Overview

The Steam Web API serves Steam data — apps, player profiles, and game news. Auth is a free API key.

⚠️ Gotcha (verified 2026-08): the classic ISteamApps/GetAppList/v2/ endpoint now returns HTTP 404 “Method ‘GetAppList’ not found” — Steam has been deprecating/removing endpoints. Check the current interface (steamapi.xpaw.me) before relying on a specific method.

Authentication

• Register at steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey → free key.
• Send it as the key query parameter.

Rate Limits & Notes

• Free key; some endpoints are rate-limited (100k/day per key per the docs).
• The API surface changes — always check xpaw.me’s live interface list.
