Hyrule Compendium

Overview

The Hyrule Compendium API exposed the complete in-game database of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — every animal, monster, material, equipment, treasure, and creature, with names, descriptions, and image URLs. It was a fun, keyless API for Zelda fan projects.

⚠️ Status (verified 2026-08): the hosted endpoint (hyrule-compendium-api.herokuapp.com) returns HTTP 404 — the service appears unreachable from our network (it previously ran on Heroku’s free tier, which was discontinued). The project is open-source, so it can be self-hosted or revived.

What it used to provide

• All entries: GET /api/v1/entries
• By category: GET /api/v1/category/creatures, /category/monsters, /category/materials, /category/equipment, /category/treasure
• Single entry: GET /api/v1/entry/fire_arrow
• Search: GET /api/v1/entries?name=lynel
